I’m Cathy Allen, The Board Doctor—an advocate and consultant dedicated to helping volunteers and staff serving small nonprofit organizations lead with clarity, confidence, and impact. My career began with deep involvement on nonprofit boards, which taught me firsthand both the joys and challenges of nonprofit leadership; that lived experience fuels my work today.

Over nearly two decades in nonprofit development and organizational consulting, I’ve stayed grounded in best practices while centering real-world application and practical support. Before launching The Board Doctor, LLC in 2016, I led a nonprofit organizational development firm for almost 15 years and continue to bring warmth, expertise, and a strengths-based approach to every interaction. I’m passionate about building communities where leaders feel supported rather than overwhelmed.
