Chris Fraser is deeply passionate about fostering creative community. What began as a stack of colourful flyers advertising writing workshops around her kitchen table over twenty years ago, has slowly grown into the warm and generous community that is Firefly Creative Writing.

Chris strongly believes that each person knows how to write already, and that freedom, inspiration and courage are our greatest tools. She identifies as queer and is especially passionate about making space for stories from LGBTQIA+ identities that so often go unrecorded and uncelebrated. Known for her generosity, optimism and hard work, Chris has poured her life into Firefly.

These days she shares her work with her team of nine creators, loosely based in Southern Ontario (with one team member in Seattle.) Together they run a wide slate of small-group writing workshops and coaching programs, a live writing session every weekday morning at 9am, and Fireside Community for Writers, here on Circle.
