About

Gisela Perez de Acha is a lawyer-turned-investigative journalist and the founder of FactFinder. Trained originally as a human rights lawyer, she moved into open-source investigative reporting, covering extremism, conflict, and human rights for outlets including The New York Times, ProPublica, and Frontline, work recognized with a Polk Award and an Emmy.

Gisela built the first Open Source Investigative Reporting course at UC Berkeley, training more than 150 journalists, lawyers, and investigators in digital fact-finding. She also trains volunteers with Amnesty International's Digital Verification Corps. She founded FactFinder to give investigators, journalists, and researchers a structured way to learn the OSINT methods she uses in her own reporting.
