Katrin Saage trained as a biology teacher, earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree in biology education from the University of Tartu, before shifting into birth work. She became a certified doula in autumn 2019 and completed her breastfeeding consultant certification in June 2020, and has since supported families in Tartu and online through pregnancy circles, birth support, and lactation consulting. She is also a mother of three, each with a different birth experience of her own.

Drawing on that path through pregnancy and postpartum, Katrin founded Emade kogukond, an online community for pregnant women and mothers of young children. She combines an evidence-based approach with attention to the emotional side of early parenthood, working from the belief that new mothers and fathers need a supportive village around them just as much as their children do.
