Diana Shulla Cose is the founder and executive leader behind Lorenzo’s House and its educational initiatives, including Light Academy. She created the organization in 2021 after her husband, Lorenzo, was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease, an experience that revealed a major gap in support for younger families navigating dementia. With more than 25 years of experience in education leadership—having previously co-founded and led a large public charter school network in Chicago—Cose brought her expertise in community building and learning design to this new mission. Through Lorenzo’s House and Light Academy, she works to empower families, caregivers, and young people affected by younger-onset dementia by creating spaces for connection, learning, advocacy, and healing.
