Matt Jacob originally trained and worked as a pilot, a career that took him around the world and sparked a growing curiosity about the cultures he encountered along the way. That curiosity turned into a serious pursuit of photography, and after a workshop reshaped how he understood light and composition, he left aviation behind to build a career as a cultural portrait photographer, eventually becoming a Hasselblad ambassador known for work exploring land, labor, memory, and the relationship between people and place.

Matt now hosts The MOOD Podcast, a long-form conversation series with photographers, filmmakers, and artists about the inner life of creative work. Years of conversations with image-makers like Ami Vitale, Bryan Schutmaat, and Platon showed him that photographers who build something lasting all lean on a community to think out loud with — so he created MOOD Insiders to keep that conversation going between episodes.
