Write to be Read is Prose Playground's premium membership community for writers of all genres who are serious about their craft. Founded by Joselin Linder, the community is built on the philosophy that writing groups are essential to sustained creative development, providing both the social infrastructure and the structured engagement that most writers cannot build on their own. Members participate in organized writing groups for regular peer critique and manuscript feedback, creating a disciplined rhythm of writing and review within a supportive, community-first environment. The community also hosts writing classes led by Joselin and seminars featuring guest speakers from the publishing industry, including New York Times editors and accomplished authors who bring real-world expertise into the curriculum. Past guests have included Modern Love editor Dan Jones and New York Times Op-Ed editor Peter Catapano, who led a four-week masterclass on writing resonant essays. Annual membership and Writing Group subscriptions give members flexible access to the community and the broader program of classes, workshops, and events throughout the year.

What's included?

  • Moderated Writing Groups

Get feedback, accountability, and support from a small group of committed writers in a carefully curated peer group. Share work regularly, sharpen your craft, and become part of an ongoing creative conversation. Writing groups are the cornerstone of membership, with the option to re-match every quarter (though most groups stick together long-term!).

  • Classes & Guest Seminars

Every quarter, we welcome top writers and teachers to our community and all seminars are included in WTBR membership. Past guests include Ira Glass, book marketing expert Beth Parker, NYT OpEd editor Peter Catapano, and Modern Love founder Dan Jones, plus agents and small presses open to queries. Members get free access and priority interaction at every live event.

  • Deeply Discounted Writing Classes

Each quarter we host 2–5 multi-week classes — most with professional feedback and editing — and members save 10–50% off. Popular options include: You Will Publish an Essay (40% off) The Writing Sprint (free!) Selling Your Nonfiction Book Before You Write It (40% off) Memoir Foundations (40% off)

  • Library of Writing Resources

Access a growing, searchable library anytime — including Better Than TV, our archive of past seminars and guest events (Ira Glass, Dan Jones, Peter Catapano, and more), plus databases of residencies, grants, agents, small presses, publications, and writing prompts.

  • 24/7 Community of Writers to go to for Support

You'll never write or launch alone. Membership includes weekly Write-Ins, informal members-only events, a community platform for sharing drafts and getting feedback, and a group of writers ready to cheer you on and champion your work.
