Many BIPoC women writers work in isolation, without a community that understands the specific challenges of writing and publishing as a woman of color. The Sanctuary is a private, global membership community built to change that. Founded by author Lori L. Tharps, it brings together Black, Brown, Indigenous, Latina, Asian, and multiracial women writers working on creative nonfiction, journalism, poetry, or fiction who want to move their writing toward publication.

Members join daily co-writing sessions, monthly craft workshops, and feedback circles built around their genre, plus guest lectures from publishing professionals and in-person meetups in the USA and Europe. The community asks for a three-month minimum commitment because real progress in a writing life takes sustained practice, not a single workshop. Members have gone on to earn scholarships, grants, MFA acceptances, and publication in national journals since joining.
