Most swimmers chase speed by swimming more. The McEvoy Method starts from the opposite premise: less volume, higher intensity, peak power. Cameron McEvoy rebuilt his own training around that idea, cutting weekly pool distance dramatically and moving the load into the gym, then went on to win Olympic gold in the 50m freestyle and set a world record of 20.88. This is where that approach gets written down and handed over.

The work is shorter, sharper, and more deliberate than a conventional program. Members get the weekly swim sessions and the strength progressions that sit behind them, and can go deeper into the exact numbers: intensities, splits, periodisation, race analysis, and the decision-making around race day. Cameron runs a monthly Q&A, which is where the reasoning behind the sets tends to come out. Elite status is not a requirement to join. Masters athletes, age-group sprinters, club coaches, and triathletes all use the same framework, scaled to what their week actually allows.

Outcomes

  • Swim faster on a fraction of your current pool volume
  • Train with the intent of a sprinter, not a distance swimmer
  • Walk onto the blocks with a race day plan you trust
  • Turn gym power into actual speed in the water
  • Peak for the meet that matters instead of guessing

What's included?

  • Weekly Swim Sessions

Each week brings a full session laid out with sets, distances, and intervals. These are the actual workouts, written to be swum as given rather than adapted from a generic distance plan.

  • Pull-Up Program

A block-by-block strength progression built around pull-ups, sequenced so the gym work develops in step with what is happening in the pool rather than running as a separate, disconnected routine.

  • Monthly Q&A with Cameron

A live monthly session with Cameron. This is usually where the reasoning behind a set comes out, and where members bring their own situation, meet schedule, or sticking point and get a direct answer.

  • Exact Times, Weights, Splits and Intensities

The precise numbers behind every session, so there is no guesswork about how hard a rep should be. You know the target time, the load, and the intensity before you start.

  • Block Goals and Periodization

How the training year is structured: what each block is for, what it should produce, and how the blocks stack toward a peak. This is the map that stops the weekly sessions feeling arbitrary.

  • Race Analysis and Goal-Time Calculations

Breakdowns of race performance alongside the maths for setting a realistic goal time. Useful for deciding whether the target you have in mind is actually supported by what you are producing in training.

  • Race Day Protocols and Decision Frameworks

What to do on the day itself, from warm-up through to the call room, and how to make the small decisions that come up under pressure without improvising them on the spot.

  • Nutrition Framework and Targets

A framework for eating around sprint training, with targets rather than a rigid meal plan. It is built to support the high-intensity, low-volume structure the rest of the program runs on.

  • Sprint Topic Deep Dives

Longer explorations of specific sprint subjects, going past the how into the why. These are for members who want to understand the underlying physiology and mechanics well enough to coach themselves.

Who is this for?

  • Masters swimmers who want to get faster without adding weekly kilometres to an already full life
  • Age-group sprinters looking for a structured, sprint-specific program rather than more distance work
  • Club coaches who want a tested low-volume, high-intensity sprint framework to apply with their squads
  • Competitive triathletes who need more speed in the swim leg without eating into bike and run training
