Writing historical fiction is a solitary pursuit, and it's easy to get stuck without anyone who understands the specific challenges of the genre – getting period details right, balancing accuracy with story, or finding your readers. Andrew Noakes started The History Quill after years spent editing for historical fiction writers, and the membership grew out of the same idea: writers in this genre do better with structured support and other people writing the same kind of books.

Members join a live masterclass each month on the craft and business of historical fiction, submit pages to professional editors for critique, and talk with historians working in the periods they're writing about. There's also a private online community for questions and shared progress. Masterclasses run about three hours, with recordings kept available for as long as membership is active, so anyone who misses a session can catch up later. Membership runs month to month, with no minimum commitment.
