Rachel Arsenault is a developmental editor specializing in the crime and fantasy genres. After nearly a decade of working with clients and teaching writing, she created The Academy to help writers navigate the multi-faceted struggles of writing a novel: understanding story structure, knowing what to do with each individual draft, and developing a sustainable creative practice alongside other writers in a positive and supportive environment. A firm believer in story structure, good tools, and the inherent magic of writing, Rachel is known for providing her clients and students with clarity and concrete, actionable tools along with her trademark enthusiasm.

The Academy is a cohort-based community that opens for enrollment every six months to allow writers to travel together through the process of developing writing skills and learning to write a book, not just in theory, but by actually writing a book.
